My first career was a journalist working for different news outlets, including Detroit PBS (the home of Elmo and Big Bird. But I've always loved teaching. After working for a few years in brick-and-mortar schools, I joined the Michigan Virtual Charter Academy and have not looked back. I love building connections with students and providing them with a safe and engaging place to expand their knowledge, as well as creating new and creative ways to make learning fun and exciting, and connecting it to real-world experiences. My favorite part of being an English teacher is using new tools and ideas to make writing fun and interesting.
