I put myself next to students as a learner, building the idea that we can both learn from each other. I will work hard to follow a student's thinking, not pull them towards my own because the goal is to create independence and confidence.  In school I struggled with memory and was lead to believe I could not excel at math because of it. However, I have dedicated well over a decade to ensuring the students understand that math is SO much more than memorization; it is problem solving and pattern recognition.
